Case Study 01 · Mechanical Service
A Daily-Wear Automatic That Had Run Long Past Its Service Interval
The Situation
The client's ETA 2824 automatic had not been serviced in eleven years. It was losing approximately ninety seconds daily and intermittently stopping during periods of lower wrist activity. The case back seal had also dried out.
The Work
Full disassembly and ultrasonic clean. Worn pallet jewels noted and discussed with the client — replaced with period-appropriate spares. New mainspring fitted. Full lubrication and regulation. New case-back seal and pressure test.
The Result
Watch returned running within eight seconds per day. Timing machine printout provided. Client reported the watch running consistently well four months later. Total service time: three weeks.

Case Study 02 · Heritage Restoration
A 1950s Swiss Pocket Watch Inherited With No History
The Situation
An elderly client brought in a pocket watch left by her uncle with no provenance or service history. The movement had frozen and the enamel dial had a hairline crack running through the six-o'clock position.
The Work
Movement fully stripped and examined. Frozen balance pivot replaced — sourced from old stock. Dial stabilised without removal; crack documented and discussed with the client who wished to preserve it as found. Full clean, lubrication, and regulation to close-tolerance standards.
The Result
Watch returned running and keeping time to within twenty seconds per day — reasonable for a movement of its age. Dial preserved in original condition per the client's instructions. Full written record provided.

Case Study 03 · Crystal & Seal Renewal
A Diver Watch Bought Secondhand with Moisture Damage
The Situation
The client purchased a secondhand 200m diver only to notice condensation inside the crystal after a moderate swim. The original crystal was also scratched. The case had not been resealed since original purchase some years prior.
The Work
New sapphire crystal fitted. All case gaskets renewed including crown tube and case-back. Movement dried carefully and inspected — no significant moisture damage to the movement detected. Dry pressure test conducted to 10 bar on completion.
The Result
Pressure test passed at rated depth. Watch returned with test documentation. Client has since used the watch regularly in water without recurrence. Total time: nine days.
